Mary Louise Streep better known as Meryl Streep is an American theater, television and film actress. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest film actresses of all time. She was born on June 22, 1949 in Summit, New Jersey, United States. She is the daughter of Mary Wolf and Harry William Streep, Jr. She has two brothers, Dana David and Harry William III. Aafter graduating from Yale School of Drama, she performed in several theater productions in New York and New Jersey. Her first actoing debut was in 1975 in a play Trelawny of the Wells in which she played the role of Miss Imogen Parrott. She made her first film debut in 1977 by playing the role Anne Marie in the film Julie. She rose to fame with her role Linda in the film The Deer Hunter. Since she has started her acting career she has received 17 Academy Award nominations, winning three, and 28 Golden Globe nominations, winning eight, more nominations than any other actor in the history of either award. The American President Barack Obama awarded her the 2010 National Medal of Arts.
She lived with actor John Cazale for three years until his death in March 1978. On September 30, 1978 she married sculptor Don Gummer. The couple has four children together.
